Biography
John was born 19 August 1896 at Heage and worked as a pit-pony driver. He was the son of Malcolm and Eliza Stanley; the family lived at Fritchley. He married Elsie M Collar in 1918, was employed in the coal mines and was an ARP warden during WW2.
