Biography
Fred was born in about 1888 in Crich before moving to Leyburn, working as a quarryman just before the start of the war. He married Mary Ann Hancock during 1914 in Leyburn. During the war he served with the 199th Quarrying Company of the Royal Engineers, reaching the rank of sergeant. In 1927 the family immigrated to Australia and settled in New South Wales, where Fred worked as a stone mason
