Biography
The only Ernest Allen living within Crich Parish at the time was born in Crich on 25 December 1886 to James and Elizabeth Allen who lived in the Bullbridge area at the time of WW1. He married May Smith in 1909 and they had a son, Francis Humphrey. He worked as a wood machinist. Ernest died in 1967 registered at Shardlow [GROS 3A 423].
In the Medal Index Cards there are two men named Ernest ALLEN who were serving with the Worcestershires

Corporal Ernest Allen (8982) who was awarded the Victory, British War and 15-Star medals. He entered France 18 Dec 1914
Ernest was recorded on the Fritchley Roll of Honour in the Congregational Chapel.
