He was born 18 May 1880 in Belper. In the 1918 voters list for Whatstandwell is listed Arthur Sadler (absent in military service) and Caroline Sadler.

WHATSTANDWELL GARDENER'S FINAL EXEMPTION
The Tribunal granted three months' exemption, final, to A Sadler, a gardener of Whatstandwell, who passed in Class B1. His employer told the Court this was the only man left to look after the garden and farm attached to her residence.
Arthur Sadler married Caroline Rowland in 1909; he died at Derby aged seventy-seven in 1958.
