Biograhy
Joseph Frederick Hodgkinson Piggin was always known as 'Fred'. He was a talented musician, skilled on both the cornet and trombone, playing for many years with Sheffield Transport Band. He wrote scores for various instruments, and also played the piano and organ. Joseph FH Piggin married Dora Manders in 1924 December qtr (Sheffield reg district)

Fred enlisted at Sheffield on 20 August 1917 aged 17 years 6 months, a fitter living at Flatby Road, Sheffield. He was C of E, 5ft 6in tall with fair hair. Joseph's next of kin was his mother Emma Piggin.
