Biography
Edwin was born in Crich Carr in about 1898 to John and Thirza Leafe. His father worked at Lea Mills and Edwin joined him there when he left school. He enlisted in February 1916 and was discharged in December 1917 having been awarded the Silver War Badge. He returned to live at Fern Leigh in Holloway and to work at Lea Mills.
Edwin Leafe married Sarah Edith Millward in 1924 at Holloway United Methodist Church

On the original, badly damaged, Lea Mills Roll of Honour there used to be a small photograph of Edwin. This would probably have been taken from the set of three postcards produced showing most of the volunteers. A possible unidentified photograph from that set is as follows:
