Biography
Charles lived with brothers William and Guy at Park Lodge, Fritchley. He was an articled surveyor who, shortly after enlistment at Sutton in Ashfield in December 1915 aged twenty-four. Previously, while at school, he had served with the Officer Training Corps (OTC), Derbys. His pension record stated that he was discharged as medically unfit almost immediately on his enlistment. After the war, Charles became surveyor to the urban district council at Barton-on-Humber, Lincs. He married Lilias Calderbank in 1923 1923 June qtr (Belper reg district).

Army Service Record
Charles enlisted 11 December 1915 at Sutton in Ashfield giving his address as Park Lodge Fritchley. He was aged 24 years 114 days, height 5ft 7¼in, unmarried and a surveyor. Previously he had served in the in OTC, Derbys at school. His next-of-kin was his father Charles Joseph Else

Army Pension Record
Records that Charles served in OTC Derby school – "Time Expired" and that he joined at Sutton in Ashfield 11 December 1915. He was discharged under Para 392 (iii) 13 December 1915

Charles Else's brothers William Else and Guy Else are also on the Roll of Honour.
