Biography
Born and raised at Crich, he worked as a locomotive fitter for many years. In March 1915, he was stationed at Curragh with the Queen’s Own Hussars and sustained a fractured right arm. He married in 1917 and lived at Belper for many years. A sportsman like his three brothers Ernest worked as a locomotive tter. In March 1915, he was stationed at Curragh where he sustained a fractured right arm. He married Agnes Hardy in 1917 September qtr (Derby reg district) and lived at Belper for many years. After his wife’s death in 1958, he married Daisy Burkitt in 1960 and lived at Derby.

Lance Cpl Ernest Bowmer of Crich, who is now stationed at Curragh, with 4th Queen's Own Hussars, has sustained a fracture of his right arm.
Ernest's brothers Arthur Bowmer, Alfred Bowmer and Vernon Bowmer are also on the Roll of Honour.
