 Dear Sirs,
Thanks very much for the parcel of shirts and note paper which has been forwarded on from Belgium.
At the end of December I came from Boulogne to Dundee Royal Infirmary to undergo an operation for haemoiroids. I remained at Dundee about 3 or 4 weeks and then came convalescent to the above address.
After a few days here it was found that the bone in my left thumb was diseased and septic.
A fortnight ago I had a second operation, my thumb was opened and the bone scraped.
It is now [ or not?] discharging very freely but I am getting every attention.  It is being dressed 4 times a day.
Again thanking you for the parcel.
Yours very truly
G W T Barton
